The team of editors of Unitedwords.org has recently received the below published letter, written by Dr Green, regarding his decision to sign no further contract with LPC UWC of Hong Kong. The letter raised a lot of questions regarding the reasons of Dr. Green’s decision. Unitedwords contacted the International Office of UWC in London asking for an explanation or position on the matter. No answer has been received yet. However, a response of the Board of LPC to letters written by staff and students a year ago, has been forwarded to Unitedwords and is also published on this site.
As a movement promoting not only diversity, but also international understanding UWC should be open for any input and a critical self-evaluation in order to improve, striving to achieve its mission statement. That is why the editors decided to publish the following texts. Everybody disagreeing with that decision shall be reminded of the possibility to leave comments at the end of posts. The presented opinions do in no way represent the positions of Unitedwords, Atlantic College or the UWC movement, but
“If the presented opinion is right, they are deprived of the opportunity to exchanging error for truth; if wrong, they lose, what is almost as great a benefit, the clearer perception and livelier impression of truth produced by its collision with error.” (John Stuart Mill “On Liberty”)
In this spirit,
Valentin Jeutner (Germany, AC06-08)
