Atlantic College gets running for good cause

This weekend over 100 AtlanticCollege students and staff took part in the annual AC 10K run.

Following Wales Grand Slam victory on Saturday, students and staff assembled at the castle at 10am on Sunday morning for the race through the villages of Marcross, Monknash and Broughton. The 10K fun run was organised in support of Sport Relief by AC student Sanna Kauppila and staff members Alun Wood and Nick Javier, and raised over £400!

The first runner home was AC Geography teacher Alun Wood in a time of 35 minutes and 2 seconds. He was followed by the first student to finish, Alejandro Sucre who completed the 10 kilometres in 40 minutes and 3 seconds. The first female runner home was AC student Abby Morgan in 45 minutes and 41 seconds.

Several students took the 10K ‘fun run’ one step further and made it even more challenging by running around the course in a group. AC students Alan, Gabriel and Gwen ran the race “4 legged” in 1 hour 22 minutes and 43 seconds to raise money for their Brazil Peru summer project. And four students from the Cardiff and Vale Rescue Association carried a stuffed bear on a stretcher around the course, finishing in 1 hour 6 minutes and 26 seconds.

Powys won the inter-house competition for the second year in a row with the most participants and best team spirit for. As the winning house Powys will receive £70 towards an open house event.
