Eyes opened to world at college

International news is no longer a story in a far-off country affecting faceless people for Zach Meager.

Instead stories of poverty and war are the reality for his friends and classmates at the United World College.

The former Timaru student was back home last week sharing his experiences with other school students.

Zach and two other United World College students Blair Cameron and Libbe McCarthy are touring South Island schools to encourage students to apply for scholarships to the college.

“We found out by chance (about the college), we don’t want it to be the case for students around New Zealand,” Libbe said.
